Unit #523 Brings Home Awards from Convention
During the annual
Convention held in June 2007, Unit #523 received numerous
awards and recognition. Our scrapbook, carefully prepared
by Historian Novie Fero, won first place in that
competition. The Unit also was awarded the "Most
Outstanding VA&R Project of the Year" for the Christmas
party given to the patients of the Salisbury VA (a joint
project with our Post).
In addition, Unit #523 was recognized for our
donation to the Chapel of the Four Chaplains, for our
"Outstanding Work" on the 2007 Tarheel Girls State program
as well as recognition for our support of the USO which was
the President's Project.
The Ladies of Auxiliary Unit #523 again participated
in Harrisburg's July 4th parade, bringing home the Third
Place Prize of $100 in the Most Patriotic Float competition.
Continuing their support
of the Department President's Project for year 2006/2007,
the ladies chose the "USO" as their theme. While traveling
the parade route, three members performed as the "Andrews
Sisters" as other Auxiliary and Post members rode on
the float, obviously enjoying the show.
